Consignee
The party that takes delivery. On a bill of lading, the consignee box decides who can claim the cargo.
On a commercial invoice the consignee is the buyer, and in most countries the party that pays the duty. On a bill of lading the box matters more. Naming a company makes the bill a straight bill that can only be delivered to them. Writing “to order” makes it negotiable.
If you have not been paid, do not name the buyer in the consignee box of a negotiable bill.
