Sea Waybill
A receipt and contract of carriage that is not a document of title. No original to surrender.
Goods move to the named consignee and are released on identification, with nothing to present. That removes the courier chase and the risk of losing an original entirely.
It also removes your security. Where the bill is what stops an unpaid buyer collecting, a sea waybill is the wrong instrument. It suits intercompany moves and long-standing customers on open account.
Also called: express bill of lading, express release.
