Shipper
The party that hands the goods to the carrier. The shipper is also responsible for the VGM.
The shipper is usually the exporter, and sometimes the forwarder. On a house bill it is the exporter. On the master bill it is the consolidator. Whoever is named is a party to the contract of carriage.
The shipper named on the bill of lading certifies the verified gross mass. That is why the box matters for more than the address.
