Shipper
The party handing goods to the carrier, and the one carrying the VGM obligation.
Usually the exporter, occasionally the forwarder, and on a house bill the actual exporter while the master names the consolidator. Whoever is named is a party to the contract of carriage.
The shipper named on the bill of lading certifies the verified gross mass, which is why the box matters beyond addressing.
